Sustainability

Extending the life of textiles. Reducing waste. Supporting the circular economy.

Our environmental commitment

Every year, millions of tonnes of textiles end up in landfill or are incinerated. We are here to change that.

TexTrade UK is committed to sustainable textile management. We collect, sort, reuse and recycle clothing and textiles that would otherwise become waste. Every garment we handle is assessed for its best next use — whether that means being worn again, repurposed into new materials, or recycled into industrial products.

We work with local councils, clothing brands, charities and wholesale buyers to build responsible textile supply chains. Our processes are designed to minimise environmental impact at every stage, from collection through to final processing.

How we make a difference

Landfill diversion

Our primary mission is keeping textiles out of landfill. Every bale we export, every garment we grade, and every partnership we maintain helps reduce the volume of clothing sent to waste. We aim to give every textile a second life before disposal becomes the only option.

Circular economy

We support the circular economy by keeping textiles in use for as long as possible. Clothes that cannot be worn again are repurposed into industrial wiping cloths, insulation materials, or fibre for new products. Nothing is wasted without first exploring every reuse pathway.

Carbon reduction

Reusing and recycling textiles carries a far lower carbon footprint than manufacturing new garments. By extending the life of existing clothing, we help brands, councils and organisations reduce their Scope 3 emissions and meet sustainability targets.

Supporting brands on their sustainability journey

We help fashion brands and retailers manage surplus stock responsibly. Whether it is customer returns, end-of-line products or overstock, we provide transparent, documented disposal routes that align with ESG commitments and environmental compliance standards.

Our brand partners receive clear reporting on where their textiles go and how they are handled. This transparency helps demonstrate environmental responsibility to stakeholders, customers and regulators.

  • Auditable disposal routes for surplus stock
  • ESG-aligned reporting and documentation
  • Support for Scope 3 carbon reduction targets
  • Environment Agency registered operations

Community and social impact

Sustainability is about people as well as the environment. We support communities through textile collection partnerships and charitable initiatives.

Renew UK

TexTrade UK supports Renew UK, a charitable organisation dedicated to helping communities and individuals in need. Through Renew UK, we contribute to projects that make a tangible difference — including support for Ukrainian children and families affected by conflict.

Renew UK operates independently to provide humanitarian aid and community support. We are proud to be associated with their work and to help raise awareness of their mission.

Charity partnerships

We work with charities across the UK to provide textile collection services and clothing banks. These partnerships generate vital funding for charitable causes while diverting textiles from landfill.

By partnering with TexTrade UK, charities gain access to reliable collections, transparent reporting, and a professional partner who understands the sector.
